Still tinkering after all these years

Hello, fellow obsessive compulsive electron pushers. I am a retired electrical engineer with forty+ years of gainful employment, but my history with the art of building stuff only I could want began much earlier and apparently will end much later. Just found your forum through GroupDIY, where I have lurked for many years and went through a spell of posting, then got weary of some of the--shall I say "opinionated"people-- and drifted away. My interests are quite wide and I can't say I specialize in any one thing. I just get ideas and build stuff.

Me, too! Except I don’t know about GroupDIY. I came here from QuadraphonicQuad, a similar site with surround sound as the primary topic, although we get WAY off topic at times.

There will always be a few who have more opinion than knowledge, but most of the folks here seem to like each other.

If you are into DIY audio, especially preamps, power amps and signal processing, I recommend the DIYaudio forums. The folks hanging out in the Pass Labs forum in particular are very helpful to newcomers. I spent almost 10 years there finalizing my headphone and loudspeaker systems.

I haven't explored GroupDIY much but it's fun. The studio equipment and large format condenser mic builders are way down into the weeds!
