During my DIY lithium battery projects I kept running into a few persistent problems like voltage drops, cell imbalances, and overheating. What kinds of issues do you often face with lithium battery circuits and how do you usually fix them?

I often deal with cell imbalance as well. Using a reliable battery management system really helps maintain stability and safety.

oh, tell me about it. cell imbalance is my most frequent problem, and it's usually a BMS issue, not a cell issue.
just make sure yourBMS is set to passive balancing and that it's given enough time to work. don't immediately assume the cells are bad. Let the battery sit at 100% SOC for several hours (or overnight) after charging is complete.
this gives the BMS time to bleed off the high cells and even things out

Appreciate that insight I’ve probably been too quick to judge the cells. Allowing the BMS some time to function properly after a full charge could be exactly what I’ve been missing
