walkie talkie app for decommissioned androids?

I got a few perfectly good, old Android phones with no service, and I want to turn them into simple walkie talkies.
I need an app that works without a home router or the internet. just straight WiFi direct or bluetooth between the phones (PTT or full duplex).
I get totally confused by all the networking jargon in the app descriptions.
Which app actually works for this simple, direct peer to peer setup? Any specific keywords I should be looking for in the Play Store?

I gave it a shot with some old phones, Walkie Talkie WiFi Intercom worked great over Bluetooth. Just look up WiFi Direct walkie talkie on the Play Store.
