AKG C414 B-ULS needs repair or parts to fix it.

Hi Everyone:

I hae an AKG C414 B-ULS that has a wire off on the circuit board so the gentleman that I had take a look at it. He says it can't be soldered back on for some reason and I wanted to know if there was some place that I could send it to get it repaired or if I could get the circuit board replaced on it. If anyone knows of where I can either get it fixed or find the parts, please let me know and thank you so much in advance.

Can you post a picture of the board, particularly the place where the wire came off? It seems strange that a wire connection can’t be soldered to a circuit board, but I’m not familiar with that item, so perhaps with more information, we can figure it out.

Don't worry, thats fixable. Try contacting AKG or Harman for official repairs or parts. Shops like Microphone-Parts.com often handle these kinds of repairs. A full board replacement might be tough to find, but a skilled repair tech should be able to sort it out. I'm sure someone here as a lead.

I once had this old microphone that had a cracked trace, and the tech told me it was done for. But then a local audio guy managed to fix it using some jumper wire and a lot of patience. So, before you throw it away or go hunting for hard-to-find parts, it might be a good idea to get a second opinion from someone who's got experience with studio gear.
