I'm working on a compact, battery powered project. My current MH-M18 only does audio (A2DP), I need an upgrade!
I need a small, low power Bluetooth module that can handle playing audio from a phone and connecting to a smartphone app for settings config and MCU firmware updates.
All the modules I find are huge and overkill! Does a compact, dual purpose chip like this exist? recommend me some, please

Had something like that happen when I was trying out a handheld tool. The MH-M18 wasn't cutting it, so I changed to NXP’s KW45 platform. It let me stream audio over Bluetooth and connect to a smartphone app for settings and updates. The module was small enough to fit and didn't kill the battery like those bigger boards did.

I had that exact problem when making a portable speaker. I went with TI’s CC2650MODA module. It's tiny, doesn't eat up power, and it just worked for both audio and setting up the app.

I was messing around with a battery-powered sensor hub and needed audio and firmware updates over Bluetooth. The STM32WB55 board nailed it. It's small, saves power, and the dual-core thing gave me options for wireless stuff.
