Calculating top pad size of an M4 screw

I'm trying to figure out the size of the head on an M4 screw. Would anyone happen to know the standard diameter for the load-bearing surface on top?

it's depends on the exact type of screw, but there are some pretty common sizes. For the most common M4 screw (a standard socket cap screw), the official standard head diameter is 7mm.
You'll find a lot of them that are just a tiny bit bigger or smaller, depending on the manufacturer, but 7mm is the rule of thumb you can count on
 
I agree. I am using that 7 mm, too. Also using a default gap size of 1 mm or more to ground plane or other wiring. A typical washer fits on that pad, too.
