Favorite starter microcontroller for PWM

If you're just starting out with microcontrollers and want to make LEDs, motors, or servos come alive with PWM, which board do you reach for first? I'd love to hear your favorite beginner-friendly options and any tips you have to help everyone get their projects blinking in no time.

When I first got into this, I picked up an Arduino Uno. There are loads of examples out there, and with painless PWM, you can have those LEDs blinking in just a few minutes. It might not be the most advanced option, but it really helps build your confidence quickly and just works.

For beginners, I often recommend the Arduino Nano.
It's affordable, compact, and has the same PWM basics, plus it's super easy to replace if you accidentally fry one while learning.
It's perfect for working with LEDs, servos, and experimenting without any pressure.

If you're looking for something with built-in Wi-Fi, the ESP32 is tough to beat. It has a bit of a steeper learning curve, but the PWM control is fantastic, and it gives you plenty of room to grow once you move beyond just blinking LEDs and dive into real projects.
