Label everything or trust your memory?

I used to believe my memory was like a steel trap, but after losing a few too many important things, I’ve changed my mind. Now I find myself wondering do you label everything, or do you just depend on that 'mental filing system' that can sometimes let you down in a big way?

I used to swear by my memory, but after losing my keys three times in a week, I wised up. Now I label stuff or keep it in the same spot it’s way safer.

It’s funny, but I thought I could keep everything in my head. Then I missed a crucial appointment and realized I needed to label my boxes and tools. Memory is great… until it fails you when it counts.

For years, I trusted my memory, then lost a project folder just before the deadline. Now I use a mix of labels and sticky notes a little safety net for my unreliable brain, ha

I labeled every cable going to my AVC in my home theater (except the power cord - nothing to get it confused with). I used yellow electrical tape and a fine-point sharpie. It looks awful, but when you’re digging around back there six months later, it reveals its value.

Ha, tell me about it. My 'steel-trap' memory seems to fail me right when I need it.

That’s a clever move. Labels may not be the most attractive, but they can really help cut down on time and hassle later on.
