A large stretch of the U.S. from the southern Plains to the Northeast is facing snow, ice, and some record-breaking cold temps.

Millions might experience power outages, roads will be perilous, and wind chills could dip to life-threatening levels.

Be smart. Stay safe. Prepare ahead of time. Only travel if it’s really necessary.

Quick check-in: Who’s filling up their gas tanks? And for EV owners without garages, how are you planning to keep your vehicle charged?
Is everyone stocked up on heating and cooking fuel?

Hey all! How’s everyone holding up in this storm? Any memorable moments or smart tips for getting through it? We’d love to hear your updates and stories.

Up in northern Michigan I spent six hours digging my truck out from the snow my fingers were almost frozen. Coffee was my saving grace. I figured out that shoveling in layers really makes a difference. At least the sight of the snow-covered pine trees made it all worthwhile.

Here I am in downtown Chicago, watching the streets vanish under a foot of snow there's no grand story, just me enjoying hot cocoa and a newfound appreciation for my snowblower. That lake effect is serious business

This morning in central New York had to dig a neighbor's cat out of a snowdrift felt like a mini adventure.
Good gloves are invaluable. Was a harsh storm but with a bit of teamwork and some humor we managed to get through it

Fortunately for me, I’m not in the path of that mess. It’s still cold in Idaho, but we haven’t had any precipitation for a couple of weeks.
