my old popcorn maker finally quit on me. I checked the thermal switch and it's still good, but I’m stuck on this part I'm pointing at with the screwdriver
there are zero markings on it and I’m getting no continuity. Anyone know what should I check next?

My popcorn machine kicked the bucket last winter, and guess what? That weird part was a thermal fuse hiding under some heat shrink. If it's not continuous, it's probably a goner. I would check where it connects and see if it's meant to break.

If that thing has no continuity and no label, it's likely a thermal cutoff or fuse.
Often, they're one-time use.
See if it's wired up with the heater and look for the details online.

I've had this happen with small kitchen stuff. I spent ages checking switches and wires before I realized the cutoff fuse had broken. If it's close to the heater and isn't continuous, that's probably your issue.
