repair vs replace on fridge compressor control board?

"Got a dead Secop BD35 control unit (101N0650) that keeps blowing the 15A fuse instantly. Fridge is disconnected, so it's 100% the board. I cracked it open and yeah, it's just a cluster of MOSFETs, rectifiers, and a little MCU pretending to be fancy.

I already ID'd the big parts (Schottky rectifier, beefy MOSFET, ST7 micro), but honestly, this thing looks like a money pit. Unless someone here's mapped these boards before, I'm thinking it's faster to swap the whole module than play whack-a-mole with semiconductors that may or may not have taken collateral damage. Anyone here actually had success repairing one of these, or do you just replace and move on?"

You're right to be skeptical. The 101N0650 board is known for fuse-blowing when the MOSFET shorts or the rectifier fails and once that happens, the ST7 micro can get zapped too. Secop's own docs confirm it's a dual voltage unit with built in thermal and reverse polarity protection but none of that helps once the power section fries. Unless you've got a full schematic or a donor board to trace, most techs replace the module outright. Did you already test the MOSFET gate for leakage or check the rectifier junctions under load? That might tell you if it's salvageable or not.
 
I've come across a few situations like that, typically it's a shorted MOSFET that ends up taking out the gate driver or the microcontroller along with it. Unless you happen to have a spare board or a complete schematic, it’s best to just swap out the module. Trying to repair it can take a lot of time with not much chance of success.
