The worst time you’ve ever run out of supplies

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a project everything going perfectly only to realize you’ve run out of something crucial like flux, solder, or that tiny part you were sure you had stashed away? Ugh, that happened to me last month! Everything was going great until I ran out of solder. Had to drive all the way across town, but at least I saved the project.

Years ago, I was really into a weekend project totally in the zone, when I saw that I didn't have this one capacitor. I looked everywhere before giving up. I ended up pulling one from an old board and kept going. Lesson learned always check your parts first.

Ahh, workin’ for “the man!”

I and a crew were responsible for maintaining about 200 conference rooms of varying complexity. We had a big update project, and the guy who PROMISED he was the go-to guy for support totally ignored my emails to him requesting a couple of rolls of solder.

Not his first offense, so I just had us stop working (fully documented where we had stopped) untill he realized that progress had stopped and poked him in the backside and do his freakin’ job. Yes, he was (and still is) a government worker.
