Tool you wish you bought sooner

When I first began, I kept delaying the purchase of a good impact driver, trying to manage with what I had. In hindsight, I really wish I’d bought one much earlier it would have saved me a lot of time and stress.

So, I’m curious, is there a tool you wish you had invested in sooner that made a big impact once you finally got it?

Getting a good cordless drill was a game-changer for me. I put up with a junky one for ages, and when I finally got a better one, the power and battery life were just amazing.

I waited way too long to get a laser level. When I finally got one for building a deck, it made lining things up simple and saved me a ton of time.

I wish I had bought a good circular saw sooner. When I was building a shed, I was stuck using an old saw that kept getting stuck and slowing me down. Once I got a solid saw, cuts were cleaner and faster, and the work wasn't as hard.

I’ll start with a soldering iron. I tried soldering when I was a kid, using a soldering gun that got way too hot, although I didn’t know it at the time. Eventually, I attended a one-day soldering school, where they had temperature-controlled soldering irons - about twice the price of the gun, if I recall 1970 pricing.

That was the day I learned to not fight my tools, but to get tools that worked for me. Even a good tech with bad dools will have an uphill battle. Don’t skimp when it comes to tools!
