What circuit project from 2025 are you most proud of

I wrapped up a few circuit projects this year, and one of them turned out even better than I had hoped! It really got me thinking about everyone else's successes. So, which project from 2025 are you most proud of?

For me, it's this little automation thing I did just for kicks. I didn't think it'd be a big deal, but it ended up fixing this thing that annoyed me every day, and I learned so much doing it.

Okay, so, the thing I'm most proud of? It's this little sensor board I whipped up earlier this year. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but everything just clicked on the first try, which is rare for me. Seriously, it still makes me feel good when I think about it.

If I had to pick one thing, it'd be that power supply I rebuilt. I'd been putting it off forever, but I finally just bit the bullet, sorted everything out, and ended up with something way better than what I started with. Definitely a win for 2025.

I installed a new 120v kitchen exhaust fan with a motor that was too fast and noisy. Couldn't stand the way a triac speed control made the motor sound and didn't like the idea of shifting the phase with more capacitance in the hot leg, so I dug out this old 150 watt 120v primary / 30v secondary transformer I've had in my junk box for literally 50 years. Wired it up as a "buck" autotransformer for 90v out. Perfecto! Much better than an incandescent lightbulb or a power resistor in series.

That’s a clever fix. There’s really nothing quite like rummaging through the old parts stash and coming up with a solution that’s way cleaner than anything you could buy off the shelf.
