Do you have a favorite electronics book or resource from back in the day? Chances are, you’ve had a few reliable guides that helped you understand circuits or solve project issues over time. What’s that one book or resource you still turn to, even if it’s not the latest edition? Share your thoughts with us!
 
My top pick is 'Make: Electronics.' It's super hands-on, and I’ve had it for quite a while. While it’s not the latest version out there, I still consult it for practical advice when starting new projects. Some books just don't lose their charm
 
I'm a big fan of Practical Electronics for Inventors. It's a little dated, but it's full of helpful info. I often find myself going back to it for project ideas or whenever I run into a challenge.
 
Have a real fondness for 'The Art of Electronics.' It might not be the newest book on the shelf, but it’s been my main reference for years. I still use it for everything from basic circuits to in-depth explorations. It's a classic for a reason.
 
I’ve been retired for 11+ years, but a few of the books I leaned on fairly heavily in the day were the National Semiconductor Linear iC catalog, Milton Kiver’s “Television Electronics” and the Audio Cyclopedia.
 
Practical Electronics for Inventors is a gem. Even though it’s not the newest book out there, it’s still super relevant. I always find myself going back to it when I need to refresh my knowledge on circuits
 
Walt Jung -- Opamp Cookbook taught me a lot about building analog circuits in a way that made sense. I suppose it is long out of print. I learned that an opamp is a lot more than a linear amplifier. I bought some parts and started building...and that started my love affair with the opamp.
TI -- The TTL Databook. Believe it or not, as a kid I could sit for hours just looking at the various functions you could get in little 14 and 16 pin packages. Then I went to the local surplus electronics store and bought a handful. Soon I had flashing lights, counters, raceways, and other stuff made out of TTL parts.

hands-on is the best way to learn. Books will get you started, but sooner or later you have to hit the bench.

Absolutely there's just no substitute for getting our hands dirty to really learn.
